Jazz Box is a chord and scale reference for students of music improvisation, and applies to most any genre.

Have you ever felt your improvisation needs more zip? This app will show you different scales that may be played over a given chord. For example, there are seven scales that can be played over a dominant 7 chord! Place your iPhone, iPod or iPad on your music stand and try out new scale-chord combinations to expand your improvisational skills.
